The best breakfast burritos. Fresh eggs, meat and potatoes. I drive out of my way to grab a bunch on the weekends. Fresh, friendly and fast. Can't find a better local place.
Jorge's is an Encinitas staple with delicious so cal Mexican food. The chicken soup is an absolute MUST have when you are feeling sick or tired or happy or sad -- literally heals everything! Soup and a side of rolled tacos make the perfect lunch combination. Fast service and clean tables, too.
enjoyed the rolled tacos at the Oceanside location so much when the family was in Encinitas the next week and craving fast-Mex, JORGE's MEXICATESSEN was an easy pick. the wife-unit had her usual, a BEAN and CHEESE BURRITO with an egg add. I had a RELLENO BURRITO (poblano chili stuffed with cheese, dipped in an egg batter and deep fried) that already came with beans and cheese, and I added rice. unlike every other relleno burrito I've had, this one came "wet" on the inside with a ladle of enchilada-like sauce. yeah, no pictures. if you've seen one wrapped burrito, you've pretty much seen 'em all and "quick peeks under the hood" are just gross. the boy had the MACHACA PLATE, a Tex-Mex style scramble with sautéed onions and bell peppers like fajitas made with ropes of dried beef. JORGE's MEXICATESSEN is standard fast-Mex done well.
This is my go to taco shop in Encinitas. I have to get a cali burrito here every time I visit San Diego. Everything on the menu is great and tastes like authentic San Diego Mexican food. The chicken soup is also amazing and worth a try. Get it spicy. The people who run the spot are super nice as well. Their tacos are loaded! Give it a try!
The best soup Ever! Fresh avocado on top, you can specialize it for spicy Or no spicy with or without rice. The large is perfect for 2! Comes with flour or corn tortillas to wrap or dip in the soup. The service is fast and friendly! The ambiance is mostly to go but has a few tables outside to sit in. What would you choose Spicy or Non Spicy??
My sister and I have eaten here three times while visiting our mother in the hospital across the street and the food has always been excellent and what we expect and look forward to at a mexican restaurant. In particular, we especially liked that the enchilada sauce actually has chili powder to give it a spicy mexican flavor and the tacos have mexican guacamole at no extra charge. The chicken soup is outstanding with big pieces of chicken, fresh onions and avocado, and the spicier version is even better. The chimichanga is HUGE and the included enchilada sauce on top makes it even better. I didn't see them offering warm corn tortilla chips (dusted with chili powder) and will recommend they add this to their menu. Every combination plate has large portions of food and you will definitely leave full and satisfied. Highly recommend this restaurant.
This Mexican joint has changed hands a couple times since I have been around and during the pandemic it became Jorge's. We frequent here just to pick up the house made guacamole which is blended (not thick) and perfect for pouring over anything. Yum. We have tried the tacos, burritos and soup. It's all been good. The best part is the service. Very engaging and you leave in a better mood then when you came in. Thank you Jorge's team for always making our experience so pleasant.
